Teacher Appreciation Week - Day #1 - You've got the WRITE stuff!

First, I'd love for you to stop by the Pretty Packages Party and link up one of your packages or Teacher Appreciation Gift ideas!
Click here for the Pretty Packages Party!

The PTA at our school sent home a list of items to send each day for Teacher Appreciation Week.
(This week is only 4 days as the teachers have an inservice on Monday.)
Day #1 - Pencils
Day #2 - Stickers or a Note Pad
Day #3  - Markers or Pens (I already had something else...)
Day #4 - a flower

So, Day #1, Pencils...
(Wish I had known early enough to purchase some personalized pencils for her...Oriental Trading Company has them sooo cheap!)

Anyway, this is what I did.

I'm sure this pencil can idea is all over blog land.  It's easy to make and I've done it before in my pre-blog days.  You simply need a clean can, about 40 unsharpened pencils, a glue gun, several glue sticks and some cute ribbon.  Do I even need to tell you how to do it?!?

Just in case my dear friend,(who happens to be craftologically (new word) challenged, wants to do this,) you know who your are, I'll spell it out for everyone....

Put some hot glue in a line from the top to the bottom of the can.  Place a pencil on top of that glue line.  Make sure it is straight and that the wording is facing out (unless you'd rather it all faced in...just have all of them facing the same way.)  Press down.  Cover the can in pencils.  Tie a cute ribbon around it all and fill with pencils.
Tah-dah!!!  Super cute!!

If you'd like to make your own, feel free to snag a label...just click the following link.

Thanks to all of the teachers for all that you do!

Smiles!!!

P.S.  Tomorrow is the Tuesday To Do Party!
Don't forget to stop by!

  2. Can I just say that I love that you celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week! I'm a teacher in Canada and I don't think we have a week to celebrate our teachers. I love all of the ideas I've seen...and I especially love the sentiment.
    Cheers!

  5. As a former teacher I have to say this is a great idea. If you don't want to glue pencils on the can, that would be fine. Teachers are always giving students pencils. If you tied them in one bundle with the tag, we would still be ecstatic. I've also seen this done where the pencils are put in a reusable drink cup. It doesn't matter what you do, the thank you means the most. Great Blog!
