Advent Book Basket - Repost

This is always such a hit in our home, that I wanted to be sure to mention it to y'all again this year....



This is a great idea I picked up several years ago. 

Start with 25 Christmas/Winter themed Books.  (You'll be surprised how many you actually have!!!)

(Half Price Books is a great place to pick up some inexpensive Christmas books to fill in your collection.)

Let your child (or children) open one a day until Christmas! 

We've accumulated so many that each of my boys can open a book each day!

They enjoy seeing favorite books from years past and discovering new ones I've added to the collection.

When Christmas is over, I use the left over gift wrapping scraps to wrap the books for the following Christmas. ***(It is SO nice to have at least ONE thing ready to go!!)***

I also keep my daily advent activity book in the basket...that's just so I can easily find it among the rest of the chaos going on!

Well, it looks like this year will be the last match up for the Aggies and our long-time rivals...

My sweet friend is fortunate to have Aggie season tickets  and will be attending the game tomorrow with her family.  (I'm just a little bit jealous!)

Cupcakes w/Coffee Liqueur Ganache & Mocha Cream Filling

A couple of weeks ago I made a cake based on the famous Southern Living Recipe Chocolate Cake IV.  Apparently, the best part of the cake was the chocolate cream filling. (The original recipe calls for mocha cream, but I altered it to account for the clients' tastes.)

Well, the occasion (end of season soccer party) presented itself that I needed to make some cupcakes.  For the kiddos I made Red Velevet Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting but wanted to do something special for the parents.  Time was short so I doctored up a chocolate cake mix for the cupcakes.  Sticking with the original recipe, I made the mocha cream filling and the coffee liqueur ganache.  Using a small scoop, I removed some cake to make room for the filling, then filled them and iced them with the ganache.

Yummy!  Light in texture...rich in flavor!

Football Cake Pops

I had the pleasure of making some football cake pops for one of my favorite friends.

Her super cute little girl is a cheerleader for one of our area's football teams.

The cheerleadesr give the boys little gifts at the end of season party.  I'm so honored to be chosen to provide the treats!

They turned out pretty cute.

I put them in little cellophane bags and the girls are going to tie them off with some of their football ribbon...SO FUN!

Teacher Treat Cups - Christmas Edition

We're starting Christmas a little early around here this year....well, actually, Thanksgiving came up so quickly that I had to come up with something in a hurry to show our teachers how thankful we are for them.

The Halloween cups were such a hit, I went back to it for these little treats!

Again, I made little labels that fit on Avery 8293.  Click here for the free printable.

The cute insulate cups were found at WalMart for $5.

Then, they are simply filled with each teachers favorite candies.

Cute Christmas ribbon and a tag finish it off!

Also, our sweet friend in the front office had a birthday. 

Made a quick over-sized label for her cup and finished it off with a crepe paper border.

Easy, sweet  and simple!
