Instagram...Me?!?

Well, I'm trying out the whole Instagram thing...yes, I know...welcome to the 21st century, Jami!
I tried it out on a photo of our dining table.  Have I shown you these plates before?  My sweet friend and neighbor gave the top plates to me...am I lucky or what??!?!  They're Botanical Fall Fruit appetizer plates from William Sonoma and they're just lovely on top of my Woodland Spode. Both plates are beautiful on top of my Johnson Brother Sovereign Chop Plates which were mostly purchased by The Enabler.  The brown wicker chargers from William Sonoma finish the simple place setting.  Oh!  I nearly forgot about the silver ware.  The brown handled pieces were again gifts from The Enabler.  The cream handled pieces were Ebay finds some time ago.  The napkins need ironing so they'll have to wait.
Are you on Instagram?
Would love to have a few friends join me!!!

Gobble Gobble Banner

So, during some of my time off, I've been cleaning out, organizing and trying to make sense of everything.  One thing I've figured out...I should have no reason to go to Hobby Lobby for a very long time!!
This banner was made with leftover burlap, jute, brown paint and little bit of muslin fabric.
For the letters, I simply printed out each letter, put underneath the burlap and painted.
Each flag is cut out of burlap using a letter sized piece of cardstock for the template.
To finish, I just sewed the flags onto a long piece of jute.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!!

I don't always share at the linky parties, but when I do I chose the ones in my sidebar!

Thankful Table

So again, sorry for the quality of the photos...still had the ol' point & shoot at the time.
Also, thought I better post my thanksgiving table before my Christmas table.  (Where has this year gone?!?)

Plates are Woodland spode, silver is Gorham Chanilly and goblets are Waterford Pallas.

Centerpiece is a beautiful Woodland spode compote bowl filled with assorted chrysanthemums, artichokes, lillies, grapes, kale, persimmons and apples.

Table linens are crewel work mats and runner...purchase several years ago from Williams Sonoma.

Rattan chargers were also a Williams Sonoma purchase from many years ago.
Noticed you can pick up similiar chargers much cheaper now at places such as Target.

This is where I really wish I had my good camera back.
These candle holders are my absolute favorites!
They are by Fitz & Floyd and are just perfect paired with the Woodland Spode.
  Again, I just love them!

Hope you are still thankful and counting your blessings...I know I am!

Veggie Turkey

So, when I got to the school to sign up for the Fall Feast, pretty much everything I liked to do was gone...ok, the sweets.  (Click here for this year's sweet, last year's sweet AND the year before's sweet. ) Veggies were all that was left to bring.  Well, if you know me at all, you know I had to do this.  I just can't help it.
It actually didn't take all that long...just poked a couple of toothpicks in the veggies and then poked them into the cabbage I used for a base.  You could really use any vegetables you like...I tried to keep it limited to what 4 year olds might like...broccoli, carrots, tomatoes and mushrooms.  The Veggie Turkey was also offered with Ranch Dip.  They all seemed to really get a kick out of the turkey.  After the party, only the lettuce, squash and few tomatoes remained.  They really gobbled it up!  (I know, that was bad.)
My inspiration came from a couple of places; Taste of Home, Eating With Food Allergies, and Radish Magazine.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Scarecrow cookies

I believe I found this idea on the Family Fun Website as well...they turned out really cute, though they were pretty time consuming.

Turkey Cupcakes

These are the turkey cupcakes from the Family Fun website http://familyfun.go.com/sitesearch/results/q=turkey%2520cupcakes/...pretty easy to make and the kids really like them!

Turkey Toppers

Had to dress up the turkey for the Thanksgiving feast at school. These are all paper pieced together and highlighted with paint. Gobble-gobble.
