A Beautiful Day to Take Some Photos...

Well, maybe not a beautiful day...but we still got a few pretty good shots.
It's about 31 degrees and sleeting today.  Why not go outside and try to shoot a few shots for this year's Christmas card?!?  It was really the only time my friends had so we made it work. Everyone was a trooper!!  A typical session would take about an hour 1/2 and generate close to 1000 images.  We could only bear the elements for about 35 minutes which means we got about a third of the usual number of images. Here are a few of my favorites:

If you're in the Frisco area and would like some photos for YOUR Christmas cards, give me a shout.  I'm working on building up a portfolio and am only charging an hourly fee for the shots & a DVD.  You can print what you would like.  If you would like some touch-ups, etc, that will be an additional fee.  Hope to hear from you!!

Smiles!!!

My How They've Grown!!!

So, you were expecting a sentimental little post about how I can't believe how big my boys are getting?!? Well, that post will surely surface on this little blog at some point, but for now I'm featuring my Daddy's boys (and I'm not talking about my brothers!)
(For the 2 or 3 of you sweet people out there that would like to read a little more about these guys, click here!)
"Will"
Will is the baby and my favorite...Dan (the older one) kind of pushes him around.
They're very docile for such big animals but if watermelon is involved...get out of the way!  Did you know longhorns like watermelon?!?

I haven't seen these guys in almost a year...and I can't get over how much their horns have grown! (The photos this time aren't as good as I didn't get in the pen with them this time...just didn't have much time this visit.)

WILL ~ JULY 2011

DAN ~ JULY 2011
Dan is the oldest (by a few days?  months?)
Look at those horns!!!

They like to rattle their horns when guests show up...its equivalent to the kids putting on a show for company!
Can big longhorn steers be cute?!?  Well, these are cute and full of personality!

Do you have a cute pet you like to photograph?!?

Smiles!

Meet Will

Photography is another hobby I enjoy.  It took me awhile to make the change from film SLR to digital SLR, but now I love it!  So does my husband as I can take TONS of photos without the cost of developing them all!

Besides my children, my next favorite subjects are my dad's longhorns (Will is the little baby on the left in photo below,) my brother's cattle and MY rooster, Jeff (technically he lives at brother's ranch, but other than that, he's mine.)

The shots below are of Will, one of a pair of  about 2 year old steers that live with my parents.  (They were a gift from my brother.)
Mom refers to them as "yard art," but Dad wanted them for a purpose.  He enjoys participating in Texas Historical Reenactments like the Battle of San Jacinto.  One day he hopes to have them pull a cart at one of those.  If it happens, you'll be some of the first to know as these steers are a lot more like a couple of Golden Retrievers than draft animals.

Anyway...here's Will.  The top photo is one of my favorites of him.  I really like the setting sun lighting his ears and horns through the pines.  It's also interesting to see how their horns change as they grow.  The first photo was taken in March and the bottom photo was taken in August.  In the August photo you can see how they're starting to point up and out.  Can't wait to see what he looks like a few years from now.
