These pencils are what I'm sending with my eldest to his first day of Kindergarten. I saw this idea in the September 2010 publication of Creating Keepsakes. It was created by Jaime Ward from an idea she saw on scrapmatters.com. I haven't had the time to check it out, but after I get this boy off to school, I'm going too! Happy Back to School!
Update: A printable pattern for Valentine Pencils has been added to my ETSY store.
I'm also offering a Custom Printed Pencil Printable.
Check it all HERE!

So cute! What a fun idea.
This is a really cute idea. My son heads back to school on Sept. 7, so I have time to complete this, and it will be a great way for my overly shy child to introduce himself to some new friends and remind old ones of his unusual name.
These are right up my alley. I'm going to have to figure out an occasion to make them.
I LOVE this idea! so cute!

Thank you for sharing these, what a great idea...I am working on a back to school countdown on my blog starting tomorrow (8/1), these will be perfect if I plan on having the back to school party I am contemplating.
So darling and EASY, I love this idea, you are sweet to make them for the whole class! But I would be worried about them making you PTA president or something... haha!

I absolutely LOVE this idea... plus I'm a fan of rolos! I featured it in my 19 Creative Back to School Ideas and Treats round-up today! Free free to grab a featured button!
My daughter starts preschool this year and her teacher's favorite candy are rolos, so this is perfect!!!! Thanks for sharing the idea...too cute!!!!
they might be cute...but they are stinkin' TEDIOUS to make....i just hope my son's classmates (& TEACHER) don't look toooooo closely at them. Grrrr....
I made these today to invite the girls at church to a Back to School party. I couldn't find the Rolos but Mentos work GREAT!! I used the tropical fruit which already had pink on the end, saving me the pink paper step. Too cute!!
Thanks for the great idea! I made these for my son's preschool class this week - he was so excited to help and they turned out great! I linked to your post from my new blog - I'd love for you to come check it out sometime!

They are very cute but please think before you send these and do some without chocolate. A child from my daughters class brought these for the first day of preschool, my daughter has food allergies and the teacher made a big deal of her not being able to have one and it upset her. Chances are there is going to be at least one child in the class can't eat chocolate and they will be left out.

Thanks for each of your efforts on this web page. Betty enjoys getting into research and it's really obvious why. I learn all relating to the powerful manner you make worthwhile tricks via the blog and as well as invigorate response from some others on this subject matter so our girl is truly being taught a lot of things. Enjoy the remaining portion of the year. You are doing a dazzling job.
